Layers of Light

Coming from a family of innovative silk screen printers that have just invented magnetic ink, Narttawat Thampipit sees more in prints than just paper. Same goes with objects: "I don't see many products that have dimensions. Objects are stiff, not flexible and not organic. I'd like objects to be more movable, I'd like them to create illusion, play with your eyes and tease you. Why and object should be boring and have a limited life?!"

After a Certificate in Marketing, University of California Berkeley, USA in 1994, Narttawat mastered in Fine Art and Graphic Design at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco, USA. In 1995. After graduation he went to Tokyo to receive an award, the first of many. He then decided to go back to Bangkok, where he created his own loft, one of the first of the City of Angels. He then became the Design Director of his family run business Morio, and set up his own company Take a Luxe in 2004 and his brand Visionnex in 2005.

Take a Luxe creates decorative products combined with innovative printing techniques such as 3D, then 4D and Magnetic ink. This allows him to reproduce his designs on Plexiglas or metal, such as for the Mini Cooper S he designed in 2007.
