“Bed” as it is usually referred to by Bangkokians is designed to give its visitors a unique opportunity to discover new experiences. It is indeed offering much more than a club, a restaurant or even a performance stage and art gallery… It is not only the sum of those four. It is more like a lab dedicated to contemporary creativity where the experience is you, or a lab you have to experience, for this ever surprising and constantly evoluting venue is really meant to enhance your lifestyle. This is even true for who just walks by, due to the extraordinary nature of the building.
The bed supperclub was designed by Orbit Design Studio, a contemporary Bangkok based architect office. Since 2002, when the highly regarded construction of bed supperclub was finished, Orbit Design Studio won such an international recognition it has opened offices in London and Tokyo.
The elliptic structure supported by a few reclined steal stills seems suspended in the air and the purity of its lines gives it a kind of non earthling aura. It so cuttingly differs from previously seen architectures that some refers to it as “one of the next seven architectural wonders of the world” (Conde Nast Traveler) or more commonly as the UFO (Standart By-Passing Tourist). And that is just talking about the outside!
Inside, a surprising 800 sq meters surface is divided between restaurant and separated bar areas. Due to the light and pure structures of its mezzanines and stairs, visitors feel like they can catch the whole space in one look… but still are intrigued and willing to walk it all. The cutting-edge aesthetics of the setup is a too temptating invitation to contemplate it from every situation.
